Snow On My Shoulders
Ioannina – Pindus Mountains, Western Greece
This was not one of those shots that you keep thinking of, that you scout and scout searching for a place to look like what you have in mind, that you plan going there to take it and can’t wait to get home to see what you got (well, the last part isn’t exactly accurate, because I actually was anxious to get home see the results).
But finding the place was not an issue, as it was more like the place found me and not me the place. I was on my way to the mountains, rolling on a quite busy road, and out of the sudden, I saw that tree standing there lonely, with the snowy mountain like a white coat resting on its shoulders.
I HAD to stop and get that shot (you know the feeling, right?). So that’s exactly what I did: stop the car at the first opening in the road. Unfortunately that was almost half kilometer down the road, run like crazy with my camera and stuff flowing and waving in the wind so I won’t waste time and get a ticket for parking in the middle of the national road, get my shots, walk closer, than farther away, get some more shots, leave the place as I had already spent too much time there, change my mind and get back to get some more shots (I know, I know), run right back to the car with the others in the traffic honking me and some even making (stupid) jokes about my running in the middle of the road (well, you get the picture).
No need to mention that it took me 10 minutes at least to get my normal breathing rhythm back and be able to concentrate on the road again and get on with my trip.
Well well well, the things we do for art!
